    About this site

Welcome to the Johns Hopkins community website. We’ve created this site to be a place where the Johns Hopkins community and the local community can engage and interact with each other, where we can trade information about what’s going on in our neighborhoods. is powered by a database of resources—links to public events, university offices and community organizations, and news articles about what we’re doing around town that our neighbors will want to know about.

Have an event you’d like your neighbors to attend? We invite you to add your information to the site. (See the “submit an event” and “submit a resource” links on the left side of the homepage.) The richer the database, the more useful it is for all of us.

All those resources can be sorted by topics and locations, and you can even share your search with friends.

    Our Commitment to Baltimore
Community engagement is part of who we are as a university. When Johns Hopkins bequeathed $7 million to create a hospital and a university, he did so to benefit the city where he spent most of his life.

Nearly 140 years later, under the leadership of President Ronald J. Daniels, our university remains steadfast in its commitment to Baltimore. As part of his Ten by Twenty initiative, President Daniels has made enhancing and enriching our ties to the local community one of his top priorities for the remainder of the decade.

We like to say that we’re not just in Baltimore, but we are truly and proudly of Baltimore. We look forward to using this site to build community through collaboration with the organizations, institutions, businesses, and other community stakeholders who call Baltimore home.
